PE
Intent
At EWPA, our ambitious PE curriculum supports children’s resilience, independence and confidence. It enables them to lead an active and healthy lifestyle; helping them to keep mentally and physically healthy. Our PE curriculum allows children to have the opportunity to try a wide range of sports and develop their fundamental physical, technical and tactical sporting skills. Through our team sports, children develop their ability to show compassion and gain leadership skills by learning to be part of a team or representing the school. Our aim is for our children to leave EWPA with the curiosity to take on a sport and become healthy life-long lovers of physical activity.
How PE is taught at EWPA
At EWPA, we use the complete PE scheme. This is an interactive on-line resource, which enables both specialists and non-specialist teachers of PE, to plan and implement high quality teaching within physical education. It currently comprises of over 700 suggested sequences of learning for Foundation, KS1 and KS2, a resource that is constantly growing and developing. It provides opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness." (National Curriculum, 2014)
We use the Complete PE scheme to map out and build our PE curriculum in line with the whole-school long term curriculum and overarching themes.
