Intent

We intend for every child in our school, to enjoy their opportunities to learn about music in all its forms. We want them to enjoy the opportunity to make music, listen to and appreciate it and understand the specialist aspects of it: its language, its patterns and its notation. We want our children to enjoy performing together, and to see the links between music and performance across the Arts. 

How Music is taught at EWPA

The TKAT music curriclum is designed on the principle of a spiralised curriculum, allowing space for exposrue, experience and preparation; direct teaching of substantive musical knowledge; mindful practice; and meaningful application as children move their understanding from their conscious to unconscious mind. This, in turn, develops the qualities and characteristics of a rounded musician, ready to continue their musical journed into the next phase of their learning.
